“I don’t say no because I am SO busy. I say no because I don’t want to be so busy.” – Be More With Less
As someone who has had anxiety for as long as I can remember, peace was a word that just wasn’t in my vocabulary.
I so desperately wanted to find an inner peace and live a more peaceful life but always found myself clawing my way to the end of the day. Fighting that anxiety that was constantly there and trying to make it to bedtime without breaking down.
It got to the point where I couldn’t even drive to the end of my street without feeling that inevitable feeling deep inside myself. I knew I needed a change and I knew it needed to happen soon.
When I came across the term “simple living” and started seeing posts around the internet about living with less and becoming a minimalist, I was intrigued but wasn’t sure how I would realistically change my life. You know when you are unhappy but somehow, you become comfortable in that unhappiness? That was me. That was where I was.

Today, I am a much different person.
There is a peace inside me now that a few years ago, if you had told me I would feel, I would have laughed. I would have said you are crazy and clearly don’t know me. I wouldn’t have believed you.
Embracing a more simple and slow life has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience, which is something I honestly did not expect when I started on this journey. Yes, I was hoping for a different way of life. And I was hoping I would be able to relax more and have more positivity around me.
But I never could have predicted the happiness inside me that I feel now.
One thing I am learning along the way is that when you live with less, you actually make room for more. No, not more stuff.
More moments. More joy. More love. More peace.
By getting rid of the clutter in your life you are able to fill it with those things that make you smile and feel fulfilled.
The clutter I am talking about includes material possessions, toxic relationships, the obligations that fill up your calendar and things that don’t bring you joy. We all have those things in our life that I am referring to. Yep, even me.
I may be living with much more simplicity then I ever have before but I still struggle with letting go of ANYTHING, and I mean anything, that doesn’t make my soul happy. That doesn’t add something to my day.
It is a work in progress. I am a work in progress.
If you are like I was a few months ago, and don’t know where to turn or how to bring more peace into your life, I promise you simple living will change you. It will change your life.
You will, finally, feel peace.
