Simple living has changed me.
Embracing a simple and minimalist lifestyle has changed me as a person in so many ways. It has made me a different wife, mother, daughter and friend.

I can honestly say that before I embarked on this journey to living a more simple life, I was stressed all the time and overwhelmed with life. I was running on empty with no end in sight.
I was drowning.
One of the places in my life that I have seen the biggest difference is as a mother. Being a mom to my little girl has been a priority for me since the day she was born but I have found myself not being the best mommy I could be. (That’s not an easy thing to admit. Judgement free zone!)
Decluttering our home has brought such a beautiful peace over me and has allowed me to unclutter my mind too.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I still have those days where I feel like a complete failure as a mom. More days than is probably healthy to be honest. But, I digress.
Today, however, I can say with the utmost certainty that I am a better version of me. With just a few small changes in my life, I am one step closer to being the person I know I am meant to be.
I am so excited to share with you a few ways that simple living has changed me as a mother!
I have less anxiety.
Seriously. My anxiety level is at an all time low and I haven’t felt this at peace in years. So many times, I felt like I was being pulled in a million directions and had so many expectations from people. I would look at my calendar and literally cringe because I always had a million things to do.
Now, my calendar is almost empty. I’m not kidding. I have been saying ‘no’ to things that don’t light my soul up and make my heart smile. I have had so much more time to relax and just be which has been absolutely amazing. If you are like me and live with anxiety, simple living is a beautiful way of helping calm down your life and your anxiety.
I spend less time cleaning and more time playing.
With less things in my house, there is inevitably less things to clean and straighten up. Some days, I honestly found myself picking up toys 95% of the day and it drove me out. of. my. mind.
Since we have decluttered a lot of our belongings and set up a more minimalist home, I don’t have to spend the majority of my time cleaning. I don’t constantly feel like I should be picking something up and have more time to play with my little one! (She has even commented that we have SO much more time lately, which just made me so happy!)
I am more intentional with my time.
Our time is so, so precious. Especially when we are parents. I always found myself wanting to be more intentional with my time but had so many obligations that it was virtually impossible. Today, I have changed my focus. I am able to really pay attention to and enjoy those little moments that at the end of the day, mean everything.
I am a happier mom.
Okay, you are probably rolling your eyes at me but that’s okay. I’m really okay with it.
If you are reading this right now and thinking to yourself, “I doubt simple living can make me a happier mom,” I am here to tell you that it can. I am proof right here. Since I have eliminated so many of the obligations and “things” in my life, I am so much lighter. I am not constantly feeling like I am in some sort of race that I can’t get out of. I am happier, less stressed and a more present mom.
I have more time for myself.
I am sure you have heard the saying “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” This, my friends, couldn’t be more true.
Having more free time in my day has allowed me more time for myself. I am reading that book that has been on my nightstand for weeks. I am painting my nails and putting on that face mask. I am taking more time, to focus on myself, and that has been a game changer as a mom.
